Computer Maintenance for trouble free eagle watching

So many people watch more then one nest at a time *guilty*!! and with ustream and flash that can cause some crashes and problems... I consulted my computer IT guy (read Geek) who handles all of my work issues and told him and showed him what i do, lol yes he got hooked too! Here is a list of suggestions he gave me for trouble free viewing, well less trouble anyway... I want to pass it along to you!

1. DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER!!! Don't delete it because other browsers use parts of IE to run, but don't use it as your browser!!

2. Download either Google Chrome https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/   or Firefox  http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

both work the best on reg. computers and laptops... Sorry I do not have a Mac but from what i hear they work the best on those too! Use either one as your browser.

3. Download Adblocker Plus ( I will tell you that ustream doesn't like that because ads make them money but hey, I hate junk mail lol) for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/  for Chrome https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/apps?hl=en

4. Use these items often at least once a week or more if you watch a lot of nests..

     a. CCleaner ( disk clean up but better) http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

  these are all FREEEEEE!!!! you do not need to pay for them ever

     b. Malwarebytes (gets rid of spys and bad guys a must) http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

  again FREEEEEEE!!!!

     c. Smart Defrag2 ( a must, to defrag) http://download.cnet.com/Smart-Defrag-2/3000-2094_4-10759533.html

     again FREEEEEEE!!!!!

Do these in this order!!!

5. Now, I love FREEEEEE so here is a virus control that works better and behind the scenes then NOrton, McAfee etc...you don't need to pay for a great virus control trust me!!! Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx

6. Check to make sure you have the most up to date Flash player too http://get2.adobe.com/flashplayer/

   uncheck the box for downloading the Google Drive..you don't need that.

Ok  there are the secrets to watching eagles and dealing with many windows open...but you have to DO them!!!! I do my computers ( two at work, desk top at home, lap top at home) every other night...but then i am on all the time soooo but you should do all of these things at least once a week...so download the browser or your choice, download the ad blocker plus, then the Microsoft security essentials and then do the items in #4 as often as you think you should!!!
